What's Become of the Jack-o-Lantern...

I baked the pumpkin for over an hour at 350, but it never really got soft. It should still be edible, but I'm betting the consistency is weird. I think from now on, I'll make pie out of canned pumpkin and enjoy our "pumpkin lanterns" until they get shriveled and buggy.

Gina,
How fun!! My mom use to steam her pumpkin and it always turned out just right for her food process, where she would then puree it and add her brown sugar and spices... mmmm, I can smell it from here. :)

Thinking about it... maybe I jsut think it was perfect cause I didnt know any better. ;)

Happy Fall!

Thanks, Windy..I think the moisture would have made a difference. It was still tasty, but the consistency was weird. No complaints from the family though!

You know what to do Halloween properly in the US. Here in England it is a bit more low key, but my kids will still go trick or treating, which is a US custom that has caught on here in a big way. You also have bigger pumpkins, as I notice from seeing some on Debi Cate's 'Photo a Day'. It must be the weather you have there!

I think you are brave and plucky to bake pumpkin pies with the actual insides of a pumpkin! LOL If you didn't get any complaints from your family, you did well!

Happy Halloween and I thank you for coming by my blog last week.

P.S. Completely off topic, but are you waiting impatiently for Diana Gabaldon's next book in the Outlander series! I LOVE her books!

Beverly- I hear you have to carve turnips in Britain. TURNIPS?! Holy cow, how hard is it to hollow one out?! Nice to hear that our little tradition of children dressing like ghouls and threatening their neighbors for candy has caught on across the pond. Extortion! Spread the Love! *wink*

JCK- Thank you so much! It wasn't brave though. I just couldn't stand to see all that food go to waste. I gave one of the pies to my sister and haven't heard ANY feedback, possibly it was grosser than I thought! *grins*

YES! I'm waiting impatiently for Herself's new Outlander book! I wish she would quit fooling around with Lord John and get to the good stuff! I did hear that she has an actual title and it should be finished sometime in '08.
